Monaco Grand Prix Secured Until 2031 in Landmark F1 Deal

Formula 1 Extends Iconic Monaco Grand Prix Contract to 2031

14/11/2024

Formula 1 commits to Monaco until 2031, ensuring the Grand Prix’s iconic place on the calendar for future seasons.

Formula 1 will continue racing through the streets of Monaco until the end of 2031, following a six-year extension of the existing agreement between the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) and the Formula One Group (FOM), which ends in 2025.

Created in 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix appeared on the inaugural Formula 1 World Championship calendar in 1950. It is renowned as one of the world’s most iconic sporting events and one of the ultimate tests of focus and skill for Formula 1 drivers.

Monaco will host the eighth round of the 2025 season, from Thursday, May 22, to Sunday, May 25.

“I am pleased that Formula 1 will continue racing in Monaco until 2031. The streets of Monte-Carlo are unique and are a famous element of Formula 1, and the Monaco Grand Prix remains a race that all drivers dream of winning. I would like to especially thank H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club de Monaco, and all those involved in extending this important partnership,” commented Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.

“I would like to especially thank H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Stefano Domenicali, and all those involved in extending this contract. The signing of this new agreement with the Formula One Group until 2031 not only confirms the strength of our relationship but also reaffirms our commitment to providing all visitors with an unparalleled, first-class experience during race weekends,” added Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club de Monaco.

Formula 1 announced that the race will be held on the first full weekend of June each year, starting in 2026. This change opens the door to a possible alignment with Miami and Canada on the calendar for logistical and sustainability reasons, avoiding a conflict with the Indy 500.
