RB F1 targets a strong qualifying result after Tsunoda and Lawson deliver encouraging performances on the opening day in Mexico.
Yuki Tsunoda finished third in both sessions on the opening day of the Mexican Grand Prix. The RB F1 driver is hopeful for a continuation of this positive momentum throughout the weekend, following a strong start and a solid foundation for progress.
“I had an excellent day, finishing third in both sessions for the first time this year. In the first session, I felt comfortable right from the start,” said the Japanese driver after the opening day.
“The second session was focused on tyre testing, and being in the top three again was encouraging. I hope we can continue to improve and fine-tune our setup tomorrow. We are aiming for Q3.”
“So far, we are leading the midfield, which is exactly where we want to be, especially as we are battling with Haas for sixth place in the championship. We’ll see what happens tomorrow and remain vigilant. For now, it’s a strong start.”
Liam Lawson lagged behind his teammate but still remained in the top 10 throughout the day: “It was a very positive day for the team. We’ll know more tomorrow, but it’s good to see that the work we put in last week is starting to come together this weekend.”
“On our side, there’s still a bit to learn, but fortunately, we have plenty of track time this weekend with another session tomorrow morning to try and make the most of it. I hope that in qualifying, we’ll have a car that’s in a good position to score points.”
