Pérez Frustrated After Losing Time in US Grand Prix Pack

21/10/2024

Sergio Pérez voiced frustration after being trapped behind rivals, losing time at the start of the US Grand Prix.

Sergio Pérez finished seventh in the United States Grand Prix after starting from ninth position. The Red Bull driver explained that he was unable to overtake the cars ahead of him early in the race, namely a Haas and an Alpine F1.

“Unfortunately, I lost some time being stuck behind the midfield. And I lost time with those who were on hard tires. It seemed like the best strategy to start on hards, and I lost a place to Russell at the end,” lamented the Mexican.

Although he didn’t have all the upgrades and hopes for progress soon, Pérez gave a disappointing assessment of the weekend: “We just lacked pace throughout the weekend. The weekend wasn’t complicated, so we just have work to do.”

“First of all, the upgrades seem effective at high speed. But I didn’t have the full upgrades. I don’t know how much having the complete package would have brought us back into the fight.”
