Colapinto Shines Again with Crucial Point for Williams

21/10/2024

Franco Colapinto continues to impress, securing another vital point for Williams despite missing out on the fastest lap.

Franco Colapinto continues to live up to the high expectations the F1 paddock has for him, securing another point for Williams.

He could have even scored a second point for the fastest lap, but Esteban Ocon and Alpine F1 fitted soft tires late in the race to deny him, as part of the championship battle between the two teams.

“After a tough Saturday, we managed to bounce back in the race. We showed great teamwork to turn things around today. RB, Haas, and Alpine were all strong this weekend, so it was always going to be difficult to score points. I knew we had good race pace, and once I found my rhythm in clean air, we really pushed.”

“I learned a lot from my first Sprint weekend, which can only benefit me going forward. I need to keep learning to help the team move in the right direction. I hope we can build on this in the next two races of the triple-header.”

Alex Albon, meanwhile, saw his race ruined by a collision at the start.

“It was a tough weekend. I feel like I got a bit stuck in Turn 1, and once I had damage from another driver pushing me, it was over. It was a race where I thought we might retire the car, but we tried to play the long game and help Franco in his race.”

“The car was okay, but I struggled with it all weekend, and we just couldn’t find the right window with the soft tires. It’s a disappointing result, but it’s only the start of a triple-header, so hopefully, we can make some changes and come back stronger in Mexico.”
