Jak Crawford joins Aston Martin’s post-season tests in Abu Dhabi, as Krack evaluates the young American’s potential in Formula 1.
Aston Martin F1 has announced that Jak Crawford will take part in the post-season tests in Abu Dhabi. This test day, held on the Tuesday after the final Grand Prix, will give the Formula 2 driver the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car on track.
Earlier this week, he drove the two-year-old AMR22 during a demonstration in Austin (photos below). For this public event, the car sported a different livery to celebrate Aramco’s new generation of products, though this decoration will not be seen on the track this weekend.
“I’m really excited to drive the AMR24 for the first time in Abu Dhabi. I’ve spent many hours on the simulator at the AMR tech campus, and I’ll continue to do so ahead of the test to make sure I’m well-prepared,” Crawford said.
“Yas Marina is a circuit I know well, so I hope that will help me get up to speed quickly. I’d like to sincerely thank the entire Aston Martin team for giving me the chance to drive this year’s car in the test.”
Team principal Mike Krack wants to confirm the potential seen in the young American: “We’re looking forward to giving Jak the opportunity to drive the AMR24 in Abu Dhabi as part of his role in Aston Martin’s young driver development program.”
“He’s already shown a high level of understanding during previous tests with us this year, and I know he’ll work hard to prepare for the test while competing in the final two rounds of the F2 championship.”
