Alpine F1 Teams Up with JAAQ for Mental Health Awareness

11/10/2024

Alpine F1 partners with JAAQ to promote mental health awareness, marking World Mental Health Day with impactful initiatives and discussions.

Alpine F1 has partnered with JAAQ.org, a platform dedicated to mental health. This October 10 marks World Mental Health Day, and the team aims to raise awareness of the often-taboo subject of mental health and the conditions associated with it.

“Launched earlier this year, this partnership represents a significant step forward in supporting psychological well-being, both within the motorsport industry and globally,” the brand’s statement explains.

“Research shows that 65% of people have faced psychological challenges, and 89% believe it’s important to talk about it. Awareness has never been higher, but the crisis continues to worsen, with over 34% admitting they never address the issue.”

Alpine explains that JAAQ’s goal is to provide “essential resources for those looking to better understand their own mental health or that of their loved ones in a supportive and safe environment.”

JAAQ.org has launched an online platform for Alpine fans, and the team is also working with its employees to manage the pressures of work and the fast-paced life of a Formula 1 team.

To mark World Mental Health Day on October 10, JAAQ took over Alpine’s social media accounts, featuring Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, and Abbi Pulling discussing how they manage their mental health.

The team is also extending support to fans: “Fans of the BWT Alpine Formula One Team currently facing challenges or looking to support loved ones are strongly encouraged to visit JAAQ.org to access inspiring content from renowned researchers and individuals sharing their personal experiences.”

Gasly Doesn’t Have “All the Answers” for Managing It

Pierre Gasly shared how he handles difficult moments and works to maintain positive mental health. However, he acknowledges facing challenges, especially with the sacrifices required by his profession.

“How do I manage my mental health? It’s a process,” Gasly told JAAQ. “I don’t have all the answers yet, but it’s clear that as you grow up, you face different challenges, different situations, and different stages of life where you have to confront new things.”

“I believe I’m learning every day. Every day I get to know myself better, figure out what works for me and what doesn’t, how to handle various scenarios, and always strive for a peaceful place and mindset where I can feel comfortable.”

“But most of all, I’m highly driven. Let’s say I’m in a phase of my life where I’m really focused on my career and work, which sometimes means compromising my personal life, which is very important for the stability of my mental health.”

“I’m Lucky to Be Doing Well”

The Frenchman admits he is fortunate to have a strong support system to help him navigate the tough moments in life: “So it’s always about trying to balance all these different aspects to ensure I have enough personal life to allow me to be one hundred percent focused on my professional life, which is my priority.”

“It’s a balance we all have to face. We all go through phases where things are slightly better, sometimes slightly worse, with different pressures that can impact various issues.”

“But I believe I’m fortunate. I’ve had the chance to face difficulties, but I’ve always been well supported by my family, my team, or the people around me. And even personally, I managed to find my place fairly early on.”

“I think sport has allowed me to mature beyond my age, which has helped me approach mental health issues earlier in life. It’s a constant effort. But I must say, I’m lucky to be doing well.”

“And I think so far, I’m quite happy with where I am, which allows me to perform and be in an ideal situation for my family and the people who matter most to me.”
