Haas F1 Secures Major Reinvestment After 2024 Breakthrough

Gene Haas Boosts F1 Team After Impressive 2024 Performance

09/10/2024

Haas F1 team owner Gene Haas commits to reinvesting following the team’s standout performance during the 2024 season.

Haas F1 Director Ayao Komatsu revealed that team owner Gene Haas was convinced to reinvest in his F1 team following an impressive 2024 season.

Haas has been one of the most competitive teams in F1 in 2024, given the size of the organization. The American team currently holds seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship with six races remaining. They are just three points behind RB F1 and could secure a $100 million bonus (instead of $80 million) if they reach that position.

Even if they remain in seventh, with $80 million, the team will be in a much better financial position in 2025 compared to 2024. And Gene Haas is ready to reinvest.

“With the current model, the way we’re organized now, I don’t think we can do much better—significantly better,” Komatsu admits.

“But the good news is that Gene has always said he would invest as long as we, as a team, could show we’re maximizing what we have. That’s exactly what we’ve done.”

“Gene already started reinvesting after three races. After three races in Melbourne, he agreed on some things. We need to invest. We need to improve the team.”

“We really need to raise the team’s ceiling in order to perform better. We must do this in parallel.”

“Maximizing what we have convinced Gene to reinvest further, that’s what happened. With this investment, we will gradually increase our capabilities. If we don’t, we won’t have a chance to fight for sixth or seventh place in the future.”

Of course, Komatsu would prefer to finish sixth this year.

“And so would Gene! Regarding the planned investments, he might not even have to write us a check if we manage to finish sixth instead of seventh.”
