Oscar Piastri Reflects on Strong Season as Holidays Near

02/08/2024

Oscar Piastri enters his holiday break on a high, poised for further success despite facing occasional setbacks.

Oscar Piastri heads into his holiday with two strong races behind him, having clinched his first Grand Prix win in Hungary and narrowly missing a repeat performance at the Belgian Grand Prix, where he finished third on track, hot on the heels of the two Mercedes F1 cars, before being promoted to second at Spa following George Russell’s disqualification.

For the Australian, who now has a season and a half under his belt, a significant milestone has clearly been reached.

“The last few weeks have been very strong on my side. And honestly, I think the entire season has been quite good so far.”

“Some weekends in the middle of the year were a bit challenging. Japan and China were particularly tough, as well as Barcelona, but it feels like all the other races have been quite good.”

“We’ve had a lot of things not go our way. Whether it be penalties for track limits, accidents, or mistakes, there’s always been something, and I feel like these last weekends, I’ve managed to fix things. So, I feel like I’ve made a step forward from last year, for sure.”

“And you know, I think in these kinds of tricky races, last year, I struggled. So, I feel like I’ve made good progress, I’m much better at managing the tires now, and obviously, the car is also very fast.”

“So yes, I feel like I’ve gained a very good momentum, which is great, but I know how quickly things can change and go the other way as well. So I’m just continuing to try to build on that, while feeling like I’m in a good position.”
