Stake F1 Nails Sub-2s Pit Stop at Spa

31/07/2024

Stake F1 achieves a ‘critical’ pit stop in under 2 seconds at Spa, as Alunni Bravi lauds team’s operational strides.

Stake F1 again finished away from the points at Spa-Francorchamps, but not all was negative for the Sauber structure. Alessandro Alunni Bravi, its representative, praised a pit stop under two seconds, noting the team had faced issues in this area in the early races of 2024.

“At Spa, credit must go to our pit crew, who achieved a remarkable stop in 1.9 seconds with Valtteri on lap 36,” applauded Alunni Bravi. “This is a significant achievement for the team, especially after the challenges we faced at the start of the season.”

“It shows we are now alongside the best teams in terms of pit stop timing. After recovering from this difficult situation, we must now focus on reducing the car’s performance gap through everyone’s efforts, both on the track and at Hinwil.”

The Italian lamented the misfortune of Guanyu Zhou, who retired early in the race: “For Guanyu, the race was cut short right from the start: a problem on the third lap, which we tried to fix remotely.”

“We were ultimately forced to retire the car on the sixth lap. We will need to investigate what appears to be an electrical issue; it’s very unfortunate as he had a good start and was pleased with the car’s balance, in what could have been a positive race for him.”

“With Valtteri, we battled in the midfield for most of the race; starting on medium tires, we extended the stint on hard tires to try a one-stop strategy, similar to Alonso and Stroll.”

“However, the pace was not enough to shield us from Stroll, Ricciardo, and Ocon, so we did a final stint on new medium tires, pushing to close the gap with Alpine, Williams, and Aston.”

“Despite some good initial laps in which the gap was closing, Valtteri struggled to get closer to the cars ahead. Nonetheless, he had a good race with overtakes on Hulkenberg and Tsunoda.”

Stake F1 was a bit closer to its rivals on a single lap, but the race pace was disappointing. Nonetheless, it’s an encouraging sign for Alunni Bravi ahead of the summer break.

“This weekend, we showed progress in qualifying and the race with Valtteri’s updated car, but it’s still not enough to compete for points. As we head into the summer break, it’s important for the drivers and team to recharge their batteries and return to Zandvoort with strong determination.”

“The trajectory of our recent developments has been positive, and with another step forward, we can fight for points. That’s our goal and firm intention for the second part of the season.”
