Magnussen cites Haas’s competitive streak in Hungary’s FP2, while Hülkenberg makes way for Bearman’s debut.
Kevin Magnussen kicked off his weekend in Hungary on a high note, securing a top 10 finish in FP2. The Haas F1 driver expressed satisfaction with the improvements made between the day’s sessions at the Hungaroring.
“During FP1, we weren’t very quick, but we seemed to pick up the pace for FP2,” the Dane remarked. “The track was a bit cooler, so maybe that had an impact; I’m not entirely sure, but we were much more competitive, and I hope we can continue like this tomorrow.”
“We’re doing what we need to, it’s been working well lately, and we want to keep it up. There’s no reason not to maintain our form, but the field is so tight that one weekend you’re in the mix, and another you’re not. We have to make the most of it when we have the pace to score points.”
Nico Hülkenberg faced a challenging second session after missing the first. The German had given his seat to Ollie Bearman during FP1: “The session went well, I only had FP2 in the car. I’m a bit behind, and the red flag cost us time and shortened the session.”
“It’s not perfect, but that’s how it is; we’ll try to work with that. The feel wasn’t bad in the car right from the start. It’s still very tight here. It’s difficult to overtake, and track position will be key.”
Meanwhile, the British driver experienced unfamiliar conditions and continued to acclimate to his future team: “It’s always a pleasure to be back in the car for FP1 with the team. The conditions were very interesting.”
“It was the hottest track I’ve ever experienced, and that made things challenging inside the car, not just for me but also for the tyres. I learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to the next race, even though it’s a long way off.”
