Sargeant Off Pace at Monaco f1 2024

Albon Eyes Q3 at Monaco

Williams F1 started strong in Monaco, with Albon clocking the 9th fastest time in FP2, while Sargeant struggled to find pace.

Williams F1 began their Monaco preparations on a strong note, with Alex Albon securing the 9th fastest time in Free Practice 2.

The FW46 showed promise, though the Thai driver expressed concerns about tyre performance over long runs, reminiscent of last year’s issues.

“Everything’s fine today, but we’re facing the same problem as last year with our car struggling to get the front tyres into the optimal window, and when they’re not in the right window, they start to grain.”

“Our car’s concept tends to suit this type of circuit well, which has been a focus area for us. Weight isn’t as significant a factor here, so we feel on a more level playing field. Q2 is a good target, but I hope we can push for the upper part, Q3.”

Logan Sargeant, meanwhile, was towards the back of the pack in 18th position, with a few brushes against the barriers but fortunately without any major damage.

“There were good and bad moments today, but FP2 didn’t go as well as we hoped. We have work to do tonight on fuel levels, and although it wasn’t the best day, it’s always a pleasure to drive the streets of Monaco.”

“We need to find the balance and get the tyres into a better window, understanding the variables to bring everything together. There’s a lot to gain, so we’ll work tonight and see what we can do tomorrow.”
