Brown Hails McLaren for Pressuring Verstappen

Zak Brown commends McLaren F1’s impressive performance at Imola, highlighting their growing threat to Red Bull and Ferrari.

At Imola, McLaren F1 confirmed its resurgence with a podium finish by Lando Norris, who ended just seven-tenths of a second behind Max Verstappen. Zak Brown, the team’s CEO, is pleased to see his squad putting pressure on the reigning world champions.

“It was good, I think we made Max sweat a little, and it was great to see. Lando and Oscar drove very well, the strategy was sound, the pit stops were successful, and we finished within eight-tenths. It was a good Sunday,” the American praised.

“It’s a fantastic result, the team did an incredible job. We need to keep pushing because everyone is bringing updates, Ferrari is very close. We’re looking forward to Monaco and we’re ready to go!” continued Brown, who praised Norris but also Oscar Piastri, who fought well against Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

“Lando is driving brilliantly, and Oscar too, considering the mistake we made in qualifying. He recovered, was faster than Sainz, and could have been quicker than Leclerc with a better track position. The qualifying error made him start fifth on a track where overtaking is difficult, so we owe him one. But we take second and fourth place.”

“We need to keep doing what we’re doing, but F1 never stops. The men and women of McLaren must continue their work, we will keep giving everything and attacking fully, and maybe next time, we’ll finish seven-tenths ahead.”
