In Miami, Williams F1 faced setbacks with Albon struggling for grip and Sargeant crashing out.
Williams F1 has still not scored any points after 6 races this 2024 season, while one of its direct rivals, Alpine, has just opened its account.
Alex Albon finished 19th (having started 14th) following a late-race mistake that cost him many positions but, fortunately, no regrets since he was not competing for the top 10.
“We struggled with grip all weekend, then we tried to do a long stint on the tires, but it didn’t work.”
“This is probably one of the toughest races I’ve had with the team, so we need to understand why it was so difficult. True, we didn’t have bad pace, but the cars behind us all had new tires, so I was the safety net for everyone and you really can’t hold back cars with tires that are over 20 laps newer than yours.”
“If we hadn’t been the last car, maybe everything would be fine, but unfortunately, that was not the case. When I locked up my brakes at the end of the race, I was trying to defend, and we now know that damage to the floor from a bad turn the lap before caused that.”
“A really tough weekend but we are looking forward to Imola where the team is bringing some small improvements.”
Logan Sargeant finished in the safety barriers following a tough battle with Kevin Magnussen.
“A very disappointing way to finish my home Grand Prix. It was a decent race until the incident. From what I could see, both Alex and I lacked a bit of pace today, but we were still battling with the others.”
“Nevertheless, it was a positive weekend from the moment I got into the car in practice. I managed to get almost everything out of it. There are still a few small things to improve, but overall, I don’t feel like there was much left on the table this weekend. I feel good and ready for the European races ahead.”
