Williams F1 has unveiled its FW47 for 2025, sporting a temporary livery during a Silverstone shakedown ahead of its official launch.
The Williams F1 team was the second to unveil its new single-seater for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Named the FW47, the car was presented with a temporary livery that somewhat conceals its lines.
The car was revealed to the world from the Silverstone circuit, where the team is conducting its shakedown today. The livery features geometric shapes in blue and black to mask the real design, which will be unveiled on Tuesday at the F1 75 event in London.
However, the presence of Williams’ new title partner, Atlassian, is clearly visible, with its name prominently displayed on the engine cover of the brand-new FW47. The partnership represents the largest contract in the team’s history.
“It’s brilliant to be the director of such a team. Williams has welcomed me like the family it is, and I’m privileged to have an incredible team that has formed around me,” said James Vowles during the car’s presentation.
“The arrival of a new car is the result of a team that has worked for many months in the same direction.”
“First of all, a word on Atlassian. It is by far the biggest partnership in Williams’ history and one of the largest in the history of our sport. But above all, it’s about mindset, work ethic, and dynamics.”
“From our very first discussions with Atlassian, it was clear that we wanted to work in the same way. It was fantastic from the start.”
“We have two of the best drivers, some of the finest individuals, and people who are true partners. For me, these people are part of our journey, trusting me and believing in the team. It’s fantastic.”
“We have always said that our focus is on 2026, 2027, and 2028. We are making major changes to our infrastructure, and we want to ensure we don’t gain a little in the short term at the expense of the long term. We want to keep progressing, but you’ll also want to watch what we do this year!”
Jenson Button, the team’s ambassador, added: “It shows the progress the team has made over the years because having such a major partner like Atlassian is huge. It highlights how the team has evolved in recent years and how it has changed with the new ownership.”
Regarding the FW47, displayed in the garage ahead of its shakedown, Vowles admitted a sense of pride.
“The car looks stunning, and this is my favorite day of the year. I’ve done it many times, but that moment when the car rolls out of the garage is always special.”
“It’s an evolution from last year. The field was incredibly tight, with just half a second covering the grid in Abu Dhabi qualifying. And when you look at the car, there are a thousand details that are refinements of last year’s design.”
“We have far more ingredients for a podium this year. In a normal race, it won’t be possible, but if circumstances play in our favor, it could happen.”
