Max Verstappen faces an FIA inquiry over slow driving in Qatar qualifying, with George Russell also summoned to share his account.
Max Verstappen has been summoned by F1 stewards in Qatar.
The Dutchman secured pole position in his Red Bull RB20, beating George Russell with the fastest lap in qualifying.
It marks his first pole since the Austrian Grand Prix in June, but his summons puts the result in jeopardy.
Verstappen will meet with the stewards after being accused of “driving unnecessarily slowly” during the session.
The issue concerns Verstappen’s actions on a warm-up lap ahead of the final Q3 runs.
George Russell had to take evasive action and described the incident as “dangerous.” He was also on a warm-up lap and has been summoned to provide his account.
Russell finished the session in second, narrowly missing Verstappen’s top time.
The Dutchman is set to appear before the stewards at 7:15 pm UK time.
