Lando Norris expressed frustration after qualifying third in Qatar, despite being satisfied with his lap, as McLaren aims for race success.
After dominating the Sprint Qualifying and the Sprint itself, Lando Norris could only manage third in the Qatar Grand Prix qualifying. The McLaren F1 driver expressed frustration at not achieving a better result.
“This isn’t the position we wanted after yesterday and today, but it was the maximum. My lap was quite good, I was satisfied with it, but it wasn’t fast enough compared to the others. I’m happy with my lap and getting the most out of it, but not happy with the result,” Norris said.
He still hopes to aim for victory in the race, though even a similar result on the grid would be enough for McLaren to secure the title: “Everyone saw how tight it is between everyone in qualifying, there’s not much in it, and we can improve, but we have some very fast cars behind us in the same time.”
“We showed good race pace today, I had the benefit of being ahead and in clean air, so I expect a tougher race. But we still have a chance, we’re not as quick as the Mercedes, and Red Bull has shown how much they’ve improved since yesterday.”
