Lando Norris clinched victory in Abu Dhabi, delivering McLaren its first constructors’ title in 26 years in a stunning finale.
Lando Norris secured the constructors’ title for McLaren F1 with a victory in Abu Dhabi, finishing ahead of both Ferraris. The British driver fought alone after Max Verstappen collided with Oscar Piastri at the start, but his triumph was enough to reclaim the world crown.
“It’s incredible. Not just for me, but for the entire team, who have done an amazing job to come back from where we started. I’m so proud of everyone; it’s been an amazing journey, and to end the season like this is perfect,” Norris said.
“Congratulations and a huge thank you to everyone at McLaren. It’s been a tough year, but winning the constructors’ title after 26 years is truly special.”
Asked about celebrating this achievement, Norris already has plans with his CEO, Zak Brown: “Zak and I have already said we’re going to get smashed tonight! We’re going to celebrate this historic moment. They want to celebrate, and I want to celebrate with them—it’s going to be a great night.”
The Briton remains focused on the drivers’ title and plans to go for it next year: “That’s my goal, it’s our goal as a team. We’ve won the constructors’ title, and we want the drivers’ title next year. I’ve made mistakes this season, but I’ve learned a lot fighting with Max and other rivals. I’m happy, but my mind is already on next year.”
