Lewis Hamilton gears up for his Ferrari debut, confident in his preparation and eager to hit the track for an electrifying new chapter.
Hamilton is convinced he is as well prepared as possible ahead of the 2025 season, his first driving for Ferrari. A former Mercedes F1 driver, he believes he has had a solid winter with his new team.
“The winter felt both long and short,” Hamilton told Sky Italia. “But I am very grateful. We had good testing last week. I can’t believe the race is next week, and I am already heading to Australia on Friday.”
“Things will start falling into place as the weekend approaches. I am very excited. Given the limited time I have had, I believe we are as well prepared as possible.”
“There is still more to learn, but I am eager to get started. I love racing. Everything else I enjoy less. Racing is what I love. Being in Melbourne will remind me of my first Grand Prix in this city.”
The seven-time world champion admits he had not expected to be in this position at this stage of his career: “I am now embarking on something entirely new, something I never thought I would experience at 40.”
“I’m still pinching myself. Next week, when I take part in the race, I’ll be starting a Grand Prix in red – wow! I have no words to explain how excited I am. I’m just trying to stay calm, but showing up in red is definitely going to be cool.”
“I can’t wait to hit the track with this incredible team. I believe we have everything we need to fight for the world championship, and I also think you, the fans, can be our extra speed. I hope we have a lot of fun together.”
Charles Leclerc, Hamilton’s new teammate, hopes to start the season on a high note: “I’m very motivated. Obviously, a lot of work has been done behind the scenes, and we want to try to win this race.”
“We’ll see where we stand once we finish this first race and work from there, but there is a lot of motivation, and we certainly want to bring Ferrari back to the top.”
