Ferrari’s Double Podium Pushes Rivals as Title Hopes Grow

Vasseur: Ferrari Misses Out on a Double Victory but ‘Cannot Complain’

Ferrari’s low-profile strategy yields significant points, with Vasseur emphasizing focus and consistency in the championship battle.

Ferrari once again delivered an impressive performance in Mexico, securing a double podium just a week after their one-two finish in Austin. Frédéric Vasseur, the Scuderia’s team principal, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s form, having racked up an impressive 96 points over two consecutive weekends.

“It’s been a very good weekend. We finished first and third, gained a significant number of points over our rivals, and secured a second consecutive victory. Of course, the small mistake at the end cost us second place, but overall, it was a superb weekend. The performance was strong from start to finish—we took pole position, set the fastest lap, so we can’t complain,” the Frenchman noted.

When questioned by Canal+ about Ferrari’s title aspirations, Vasseur maintained his typically pragmatic stance: “We need to focus on Brazil first, think about São Paulo, and not get ahead of ourselves. That’s what makes us strong. Everyone else is focused on the battle between Norris and Verstappen, and that suits me perfectly. We’re operating under the radar, and that’s the best position to be in.”

Vasseur also praised Carlos Sainz’s weekend, highlighting his dominance from Friday to Sunday, culminating in another victory: “He had a fantastic weekend from start to finish. He led the way since FP1, showing consistency throughout.”

“He took pole position—twice, in fact, with both of his laps. It was a perfect weekend. He even managed to overtake Max, and I’m very pleased for him. We still have four races to go, with clear objectives, and we must keep fighting until the end.”
