F1's Hamilton Ventures Boldly into Fashion World

Hamilton unites Formula One and fashion, exploring new creative possibilities.

Lewis Hamilton has long been outspoken about his passion for fashion. The Mercedes F1 driver has served as an ambassador and designer for Tommy Hilfiger for years, and this week, he was named a Dior ambassador, with a collection expected in October. He discusses his connection with fashion, particularly through Tommy Hilfiger.

“I played a part in bringing Tommy into the fold. They have been fantastic partners,” Hamilton stated. “For me, personally, it was a real education to learn from him and his team.”

“I had the chance to sit in the room with Tommy and ask him how he built his company, his favourite designers, and the various challenges he faced. It’s invaluable. Then, with that design experience, we’ve created five collections together in a few years. It’s been tremendous for me.”

“Now, with this new partnership with Dior, I’ve been able to incorporate those elements into the new collection I’m creating. I’m very excited. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Tommy and all that he has done, as well as the team that has allowed me to do these things.”

“This simply wasn’t possible before, I don’t believe, for anyone in this sport. Who knows, maybe other drivers will start designing clothes. We’ll see if that’s the future.”

George Russell will remain with Mercedes, and the British driver does not rule out working closely with Tommy Hilfiger, although he does not yet have his own collection: “No, not yet. Being part of Tommy Hilfiger is a great opportunity for both of us.”

“I think the passion he has for racing, you can really feel it with his F1 Academy team and all the support he has provided to Mercedes over the years. Even in Formula One since the 90s. So yes, I’m proud to be part of it.”
