Cadillac F1: The American Powerhouse with a European Edge

Cadillac F1: An American Team with a Global Footprint

12/03/2025

Cadillac F1 blends American engineering with European expertise, establishing bases in Indiana and Silverstone to challenge Formula 1’s elite.

Cadillac F1 is here to shake things up. Backed by General Motors, the team blends American heritage with a strategic European presence. While its heart beats in Fishers, Indiana, its reach extends to key motorsport hubs like Silverstone and Charlotte.

An American Team with Strong Foundations

Cadillac F1 will leverage GM’s extensive motorsport infrastructure, spanning NASCAR, IndyCar, and WEC. According to project director GraIndyCarToF1eme Lowdon, the brand-new facility in Fishers will serve as the team’s core.

“Formula 1 is a global sport, but make no mistake—this is an American team, racing under the American flag,” Lowdon emphasizes. “The headquarters is in Fishers. That’s where the team is centered.”

And it’s not just any headquarters. The Fishers facility is a state-of-the-art complex already nearing completion. “The exterior structure is done, and the building itself is incredibly impressive,” Lowdon adds.

Why a European Base? It Just Makes Sense.

While the main hub is in Indiana, Silverstone plays a critical role. Competing in F1 means operating efficiently on both sides of the Atlantic. A European base simplifies logistics and grants access to top-tier talent.

“If you step into our Silverstone office right now, you’ll recognize nearly everyone there,” Lowdon notes. “Building a team without an experienced workforce in place would have been far too difficult.”

Silverstone will handle key operations, including European logistics and manufacturing for wind tunnel components. “We use a wind tunnel in Cologne under a long-term agreement, so having related manufacturing closer than Indianapolis is simply practical,” he explains.

A Three-Pillar Strategy for Success

General Motors is making waves in global motorsport, with a presence in three key locations:

  • Charlotte, North Carolina – The heart of NASCAR.
  • Indianapolis, Indiana – The home of IndyCar.
  • Silverstone, England – The birthplace of Formula 1.

“This setup is something special,” Lowdon says. “Wherever you go within Cadillac F1, you feel the deep-rooted racing DNA. It’s an exciting environment.”

With world-class infrastructure, a strong American identity, and smart global positioning, Cadillac F1 is ready to take on the challenge. The fusion of experience, resources, and innovation might just make them a force to be reckoned with on the grid.
