Valtteri Bottas believes Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move will rekindle his drive, but warns 2025’s tight competition makes predictions uncertain.
Valtteri Bottas is convinced that Lewis Hamilton will regain his greatest motivation through his team change. The former teammate of the seven-time world champion at Mercedes F1, who has returned to the team as a reserve driver, believes the Briton will rediscover his spark.
“Of course, he is very motivated for this year,” said Bottas. “It’s something new and refreshing for him, which can sometimes be a good trigger. But I’m also eager to see how they manage with Charles [Leclerc].”
Like all Formula 1 observers, the Finn expects a highly competitive 2025 season. According to him, development will be crucial in determining which team emerges victorious in such a closely matched field.
“I can already say it will be interesting to follow. With the small gaps at the top, even between four or five teams, making predictions will be very difficult, which is a good thing. I think it’s good for the spectators, it’s good for the sport.”
“The first races will set the direction, but as we saw last year with the narrow margins, if someone makes progress, it changes everything. Of course, I hope Mercedes can fight for the championship, which is everyone’s goal here.”
