Fernando Alonso isn’t worried about the technical directive on front wing flexibility, which forced most teams—including his own—to revise that part of the car. The Aston Martin F1 driver finished seventh on Friday and is feeling confident.
“It didn’t change much, the car is similar and the competitiveness is the same as in recent races, so it didn’t make much difference. We’re still fine-tuning the setup because we’ll have to deal with very hot conditions,” said Alonso, who isn’t setting a top 10 finish as his only goal.
“We’ll see, it’s not critical to score points, we mainly want to understand the car, make progress, and score on merit. Monaco would have been the first opportunity to do so on merit, we’ll see here, but it was a good Friday and the car is working well.”
Lance Stroll had an issue with his “new seat” but isn’t worried for the rest of the weekend: “Good laps, good learning, we’ll try to see what we can improve and go again tomorrow. It looks good, we seem competitive.”
