Aston Martin F1 takes a huge step forward with its cutting-edge wind tunnel, revolutionising car development ahead of the 2025 F1 season.
Aston Martin F1 has officially switched on its brand-new wind tunnel at the AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone, marking a major step forward just ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
This state-of-the-art facility is a game-changer for the team as it gears up to become a full works outfit with Honda in 2026. Approved by the FIA, the tunnel will be crucial in fine-tuning this year’s AMR25 while shaping the team’s future challenger for the new era of F1.
Housed in a vast 60,580 m³ building, the wind tunnel is more than just a testing site. It’s equipped with cutting-edge additive manufacturing machines and a dedicated model-building area, allowing engineers to work on highly detailed 60% scale prototypes. This setup speeds up development and boosts efficiency—both essential in the fast-paced world of F1.
Andy Cowell, CEO and Team Principal of Aston Martin F1, highlighted the achievement:
“Huge thanks to everyone involved in making our own wind tunnel a reality at AMRTC. Bringing together external partners and pioneering in-house technology in such a short timeframe is no small feat. This facility gives our aerodynamicists an unparalleled view of the intricate physics behind F1 aerodynamics. Having everything under one roof is a massive advantage as we push to become a fully-fledged works team by 2026.”
With this latest addition, Aston Martin is making it clear—it’s in the race to win.
