Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin F1 leave Monaco empty-handed after a costly engine issue ruins a strong qualifying and race effort.
A point-less weekend in Monaco for Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin F1!
Frustration for the Spaniard, who still sits on zero points for the 2025 season, despite being in contention for a top-seven or top-eight finish thanks to his strong qualifying position and solid start.
“I had an engine issue from lap 15, we were down on power. I thought I could hold on, as overtaking is very difficult here, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.”
“We missed another good opportunity to score valuable points today. I’m satisfied with my performance this weekend, and we now look ahead to the next race for another chance to bounce back.”
Lance Stroll, starting from the back of the grid, didn’t take the strategic gamble of completing one of the two mandatory pit stops early in the race. He only managed to finish 15th.
“It’s Monaco, so when you have a tough Saturday, you know Sunday will always be a challenge. Starting from the back was obviously difficult, and the race wasn’t very exciting, with very few chances to gain positions today. Let’s turn the page and focus on Barcelona in a week.”
