Hamilton to Ferrari Lewis Might Swap Mercedes for Scuderia f1 2024

In the high-speed world of F1 racing, a potential game-changer is brewing: Ferrari is reportedly ready to extend a whopping £40 million-a-year contract offer to lure Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes. Despite Mercedes’ recent struggles and the nearing end of Hamilton’s contract, the iconic driver remains committed to his current team. But could Ferrari’s enticing offer and the uncertainty of a new teammate in Maranello tilt the balance?

According to reports, Ferrari is gearing up to make Lewis Hamilton an enormous Formula 1 contract offer. The team is planning to entice Hamilton away from Mercedes as his contract with the German team comes to a close with the end of the present season.

Despite Mercedes’ current dip in performance, Hamilton remains committed to sticking with the team beyond 2023.

Mercedes’ team principal, Toto Wolff, recently expressed total confidence in Hamilton’s commitment to the team, stating he has not a “millimetre of doubt” about the 37-year-old’s future.

However, Mail Sport reports that John Elkann, Ferrari’s chairman, has been maintaining regular contact with Hamilton, and is prepared to propose a whopping contract to attract him to the team. The suggested figure for the contract currently stands at an annual £40 million.

If Hamilton decides to join the team based in Maranello, it’s uncertain who his teammate would be. Both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have contracts that run until the end of 2024.

Recently, however, there have been rumours of Leclerc possibly moving to Mercedes amid a challenging period for Ferrari.

Leclerc addressed these rumours by saying, “For now, I am fully focused on the project I am in today, which is Ferrari. I fully trust and I am confident for the future, then we will see, but I am fully confident for the project of Ferrari.”

The possibility of a direct swap between the two drivers is being considered. There’s also the suggestion in the report that Ferrari might part ways with Sainz to enable a Hamilton-Leclerc duo.

Hamilton’s last 18 months with Mercedes have been challenging as the once-untouchable team has fallen down the rankings.

After winning eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships from 2014 to 2021, Mercedes began the sport’s new era under new technical rules last year on a shaky footing.

Hamilton experienced the first season without a victory in his illustrious F1 career, and he has not been able to compete at the forefront in the opening races of 2023.

Ferrari, however, has also encountered its own difficulties this year, achieving just one podium finish in the first five races, while their competitors Red Bull have been dominating.
