In an electrifying race at Jerez, Brad Binder triumphed over his KTM teammate Jack Miller to claim his second sprint race victory of the 2023 season. The pole position holder, Aleix Espargaro, suffered a crash, adding to the drama of a race that had already been shortened to 11 laps due to an earlier incident.

Brad Binder secured his second victory of the 2023 sprint race season by overtaking his KTM teammate Jack Miller for the lead towards the end of the race at Jerez. The pole position holder, Aleix Espargaro, crashed out during the race.

Originally scheduled for 12 laps, the race was shortened to 11 laps due to an incident involving Franco Morbidelli, Alex Marquez, and Marco Bezzecchi, which resulted in a red flag. Binder initially took the lead at the start from the fourth position on the grid but was passed by Miller shortly after.

However, Miller’s rear tire started to slip, and Binder caught up, eventually overtaking him with an impressive outside move at Turn 6 on the second-to-last lap. While Binder tried to build a gap, Miller came under pressure from Francesco Bagnaia, who passed him for second place on the last lap at Turn 6 after Miller ran wide.

Nonetheless, Binder managed to hold on to the lead and crossed the finish line first, clinching his second sprint victory of the year.

Despite the pressure from Francesco Bagnaia, Jack Miller managed to hold on to third place, securing the final spot on the podium, while Jorge Martin from Pramac Ducati finished in fourth.

RNF Aprilia’s Miguel Oliveira had a similar battle with Dani Pedrosa, who showed impressive form for his first race event in two years, but Oliveira was able to fend him off, finishing in fifth place. Pedrosa finished in sixth place on his third factory KTM.

Maverick Vinales finished in seventh place and Johann Zarco in eighth. Marco Bezzecchi, who crashed in the original race, was able to restart and secure the final point in ninth place, with his teammate Luca Marini finishing just behind him.

In the first attempt at the race, Fabio Quartararo made an impressive climb from 16th to 8th place, but due to having to start from his original grid spot, his effort went to waste. He was only able to recover to 12th place, while his Yamaha teammate Franco Morbidelli finished in 16th place.

Pole position holder Aleix Espargaro had a disappointing race and was on track to finish in fifth place until he crashed at Turn 9. Alex Marquez also wasted his second chance after he went down while running in the top ten.

The best-placed Honda rider in the race was Alex Rins, who finished in 13th place after his LCR teammate Takaaki Nakagami crashed out while challenging Maverick Vinales. Joan Mir, the 2020 MotoGP world champion, had another disappointing race and suffered another crash, continuing his poor start to the year.
