Verstappen dismisses Hamilton comments about Red Bull car F1 2023

The battle for supremacy in the world of Formula 1 has been heating up, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton locked in a war of words over the superiority of their respective cars.

Hamilton had declared that Red Bull’s RB19 was the fastest F1 car he had ever seen, but Verstappen has now hit back.

Max Verstappen has responded to a comment made by Lewis Hamilton about the Red Bull RB19 being the quickest Formula 1 car he has ever witnessed. Hamilton made this statement after Verstappen, who had experienced a driveshaft issue during qualifying, overtook the Mercedes on the start-finish straight in Saudi Arabia.

After an initial race in Bahrain where Max Verstappen was instructed to maintain his speed towards the end and still finished 38 seconds ahead of the closest non-Red Bull car, the comment from Lewis Hamilton about Red Bull’s car being the fastest came up. In the first race of the previous season in Australia, although both Mercedes’ cars took an early lead over Verstappen, he quickly overtook Hamilton and went on to secure his maiden Formula 1 win in Melbourne.

Even though Red Bull has won all three races with significant leads, Max Verstappen disagrees with Lewis Hamilton’s comments and claims that his team is not as dominant as Mercedes once was. He believes that Hamilton’s statements are invalid when considering the statistics, as stated by him through F1Lead.

Verstappen acknowledges that Red Bull has a strong car, but he still believes that they are not as dominant as Mercedes was in some of their previous seasons. Prior to the technical rule changes last year, Mercedes had an incredible run, winning eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships and six Drivers’ titles for Hamilton in that period of dominance.

After the regulations were overhauled, Mercedes has only managed to win one race, with Hamilton failing to secure a pole position or race win in an entire season for the first time in his career last year. On the other hand, Max Verstappen has been in excellent form since his first championship victory in 2021, winning 17 out of the last 25 grands prix.

Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull, expressed his appreciation for Hamilton’s opinion, but Verstappen has revealed that he did not give much importance to his former title rival’s words. Verstappen also criticized Hamilton, stating that making such remarks would not benefit him or Mercedes in any way.

Verstappen, who has won two championship titles so far, commented that he did not pay much attention to Hamilton’s remarks, and also mentioned that such comments would not be helpful for the seven-time world champion or Mercedes. Verstappen further added that Red Bull has been working hard to close the gap with Mercedes, just like any other team during the eight years that Mercedes was so dominant.

Max Verstappen secured his second victory of the 2023 season in Australia, extending his championship lead over his teammate Sergio Perez by 15 points. Perez started the race from the back of the grid and could only manage to finish fifth. If Verstappen maintains his lead until the end of the season, he would become one of only five drivers in F1 history, including Hamilton, to win three consecutive Drivers’ Championships.
