Alfa Romeo F1 secures two points in a challenging weekend at the Australian Grand Prix

Alfa Romeo F1 scored two points in a chaotic Australian Grand Prix, overcoming a challenging weekend. Guanyu Zhou finished 10th and was promoted to 9th, while Valtteri Bottas narrowly missed scoring points in 11th. With a total of six points this season, the team is taking a four-week break before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Alfa Romeo F1 seized the opportunity to score two points in Australia, in what was a challenging weekend according to Bravi. The team managed to clinch two points in a chaotic Australian Grand Prix that saw three red flags and kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the very end.

Guanyu Zhou maintained his composure throughout the race in Melbourne, crossing the finish line in 10th place and immediately promoted to 9th place following a 5-second penalty given to Carlos Sainz. On the other hand, Valtteri Bottas narrowly missed scoring points, finishing in 11th place.

With Zhou’s two points, the team’s total score this season has now reached six. Formula 1 will take a four-week break before the Baku GP at the end of the month.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the team director, believes that the race highlights the significance of persevering until the finish line. Despite Alfa Romeo’s inability to maintain a pace that could earn them points throughout the weekend, the C43 managed to clinch two points due to a flawless race.

He acknowledged that the team continued to push, executed the race effectively, and positioned themselves to capitalize on any opportunities that arose.

Bravi explained that the first red flag’s timing was not in their favor, as they had both cars on the right strategy to fight for the top 10, but the free pit stop it offered to everyone actually compromised their afternoon.

He added that both Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas drove a clean race without making any errors. On a track like this, it was crucial to avoid mistakes and position themselves well at the finish line.

“We managed to score two points, which is a good result considering the challenges we faced this weekend. Now, we need to take advantage of the upcoming break to analyze the car data, particularly with the new upgrades, and figure out how to regain the pace we had in Bahrain,” he stated.
