At the Bahrain Grand Prix, Lance Stroll faced a challenging race after an opening-lap clash with his teammate Fernando Alonso. Despite experiencing extreme discomfort and shedding a few tears, Stroll was able to recover and finish sixth, splitting the two Mercedes drivers.

During the Bahrain Grand Prix, Lance Stroll revealed that he experienced extreme discomfort in his wrists and shed a few tears following his collision with teammate Fernando Alonso on the opening lap.

Stroll was in the process of defending his seventh position from George Russell’s Mercedes when he nearly collided with Alonso’s car, which was attempting to pass Lewis Hamilton for fifth.

Despite the incident, neither car sustained significant damage, and both drivers were able to continue. Alonso went on to secure a podium finish, while Stroll finished sixth after splitting the two Mercedes drivers.

When asked about the incident with his teammate Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll expressed his frustration with the timing of the clash during an interview with Sky Sports F1.

Stroll explained that he was attempting to defend his position from George Russell on the inside when Alonso, who was trying to overtake Lewis Hamilton, suddenly braked in the middle of Turn 4. This led to the collision between the two Aston Martin cars.

Stroll acknowledged that it was an unfortunate situation, especially given the strong performance of their car during the race. However, he was relieved that both drivers were able to recover and have a good race.

Despite being ruled out of the pre-season F1 test due to a cycling accident, Lance Stroll managed to participate in the Bahrain Grand Prix two weeks later.

However, the collision with his teammate Fernando Alonso during the opening lap of the race aggravated his injuries, causing extreme discomfort in his wrists and even bringing him to tears.

Stroll acknowledged that the impact was severe, but he was grateful that both drivers were able to avoid serious damage and continue racing. He felt that they had “dodged a bullet” and was relieved to have a good race despite the setback.

Throughout the race, Fernando Alonso repeatedly asked his race engineer for updates on the investigation into the collision with his teammate Lance Stroll.

Although the stewards quickly concluded that no further action was necessary, Alonso was still curious about the details of the incident. Interestingly, Alonso initially thought that it was George Russell who had hit him, only finding out after the race that it was Stroll.

Alonso acknowledged that both drivers were lucky to have avoided any serious problems and that it was a fortunate day for the team. He expressed his happiness for the team’s strong performance and felt that they deserved the positive outcome.

Fernando Alonso also praised his teammate Lance Stroll’s performance, despite the Canadian’s wrist injuries and a broken toe.

Stroll had experienced significant pain throughout the Bahrain GP but was grateful for the opportunity to race, having initially been told by doctors that he might not be able to return until the Australian or Baku Grand Prix.

Stroll credited his medical team for helping him overcome his injuries, particularly his osteopath, who was with him for 10 hours a day, and his surgeon Dr. Xavier Mir, without whom he felt it would have been impossible to drive.

Stroll expressed his gratitude towards the team of people who had helped him return to racing and acknowledged that he wouldn’t have been able to do it without their support.
