Drugovich is set to compete for Aston Martin in Bahrain

If Lance Stroll is deemed unfit to compete, Aston Martin has announced that Felipe Drugovich will make his Formula 1 debut in Bahrain. Stroll was unable to attend pre-season testing due to a biking accident in Spain, and the extent of his injuries, particularly to his wrists, is unknown.
The team has expressed disappointment in his absence, and new recruit Fernando Alonso has also commented on the matter.
During pre-season testing, Felipe Drugovich completed 117 laps in place of the injured Lance Stroll. Aston Martin has confirmed that if Stroll is unable to race at the Bahrain International Circuit for the season-opening event, Drugovich will take his place alongside Fernando Alonso. The team also had the option to use reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne, but ultimately opted for Drugovich as their Plan B.
Last year, Aston Martin had to find a substitute for Sebastian Vettel at the opening round after he tested positive for Covid-19. Nico Hulkenberg took his place and has since signed with Haas for the 2023 season.
Team boss Mike Krack has stated that they will give Stroll every opportunity to recover, but will be ready with Drugovich if needed.

Aston Martin has officially confirmed that there will be no surprise return for Sebastian Vettel in the upcoming season-opening race of Formula 1, which is scheduled to take place in Bahrain.
Lance Stroll was unable to participate in pre-season testing in Bahrain due to a wrist injury, which led to speculation that Sebastian Vettel could make a surprise return to the team as his replacement. However, Aston Martin has since confirmed that Felipe Drugovich will fill in for Stroll if he is unable to compete in the season-opening race.
According to a report by Sky, four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel had offered to replace the injured Lance Stroll for Aston Martin in the upcoming season-opening race in Bahrain. Although Aston Martin boss Mike Krack did not rule out the possibility, the team has since clarified that they will give Stroll every opportunity to recover and compete. If Stroll is unable to race, Felipe Drugovich will take his place alongside Fernando Alonso. Vettel retired from the sport at the end of the 2022 season after a disappointing year with Aston Martin.
