Bahrain F1 Grand Prix 2023

Presentation and Schedule of the 2023 Bahrain F1 Grand Prix. The season kicks off this weekend at Sakhir. Get Ready for the Thrilling.

Here we are, in the first exciting Race Week of the year! The F1 season resumes this weekend in Bahrain, just a few days after the winter testing that saw teams spend three days on the track.

The first answers to the questions raised this winter will come with this first of the 23 races that will make up the 2023 season. For the third consecutive year, the Sakhir circuit will serve as the stage for this season’s opening round.

Although built in the middle of the desert, the Sakhir circuit has several fast, banked corners. The first corner is a big braking point at the end of the straight, which is conducive to overtaking but also to collisions at the start.

After a second short straight, where the first DRS zone is located, the drivers face a new tight corner before the first fast, downhill sequence of turns.

After this area comes a fast left turn that turns into a braking point before the following hairpin. After that, the second DRS zone arrives, and the rest of the circuit is made up of fast corners, including a sequence consisting of a long left-hand turn and a right-hand curve.

The long back straight and the start/finish line will represent opportunities for overtaking. The third DRS zone is installed on the start/finish straight.

It is always a delicate exercise to make predictions for the first Grand Prix of the season, after winter testing that did not provide many insights. However, it seems obvious that Red Bull will be at the forefront, with impressive performance and reliability.

Behind them, Ferrari should have a slight advantage over Mercedes F1, which experienced problems during the three days of testing and still seems to be trying to understand its car. But these two teams should keep a bit of a gap on the rest of the field.

Behind them, we can expect to see Alpine as the fourth force on the grid. Like last year, the French team showed nothing during testing, confirming that they ran with a lot of fuel and never used the soft tires.

The team that seems the most impressive in the midfield compared to Alpine is Aston Martin F1, which had a good offseason and looks promising after winter testing. We can expect these two teams to be more competitive than Alfa Romeo, AlphaTauri, Haas, and Williams, which were very reliable during the three days of testing.

But these teams should remain in the lower part of the ranking, along with McLaren F1. The team has been alarmist about their own performances, and a structural defect was observed on the MCL60 which prevented the car from running and should make them start the season at a disadvantage.

The Schedule of the 2023 Bahrain F1 Grand Prix

The start of this season will take place slightly later than the usual Grand Prix, so that the race can be held after nightfall at the Sakhir circuit.
