Hamilton helps pick Brad Pitt’s F1 movie co-star

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time F1 world champion, is playing a key role in selecting the co-star for Brad Pitt in the upcoming Formula 1 movie.
The Hollywood star visited the United States Grand Prix in October 2022, along with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Joe Kosinski, and screenwriter Ehren Kruger to discuss the project with F1 officials and teams.
Hamilton is serving as a producer and advisor through his production company, Dawn Apollo Films.
The film is set to feature Brad Pitt in the lead role, as a veteran driver who mentors a rising F1 racer.
It will be shot on F1 weekends, and Hamilton provided an update earlier this week, saying that the team is currently in the process of selecting the actor who will co-star alongside Pitt.
Hamilton revealed that the process involves watching auditions and recordings of the actors doing certain scenes. He has been involved in the selection process, alongside Pitt, Bruckheimer, and Kosinski, providing input and feedback on the potential co-stars.
As a producer on the project, Hamilton has taken on the responsibility of ensuring that the cast is diverse, stating that he particularly wants to see more women in roles.
Hamilton said, “I want to make the movie, in terms of having diversity and representation, I want it to be as Formula 1 should be in the future – or should be now, but will be in the future. I want to see female mechanics. We would love to see a female driver. We haven’t gotten to that point just yet. But why not?”
Hamilton added that they are still waiting for a new rewrite of the script, and they have gone through several different iterations. He has been involved in the process throughout Christmas and is excited to see the end result. Hamilton also spoke to Pitt about the characters that they have coming.
The F1 organization has fully cooperated with the production of the film during race weekends. Hamilton said in October that the movie would be “the best racing movie”. With Hamilton’s involvement, it is clear that the movie is in good hands and has the potential to be a huge success.
