Claire Williams Becomes WAE Brand Ambassador

Former Williams F1 deputy team principal Claire Williams has joined WAE Technologies, the company formerly known as Williams Advanced Engineering, as a brand ambassador.
WAE Technologies was originally formed in 2011 as an offshoot of Williams F1 with the aim of using its expertise to diversify into other industries.
The company has since worked on a variety of projects in sectors including motorsport, aerospace, and defence. In 2019, a 75% stake was sold to EMK capital, and in 2022, Fortescue Metals Group acquired the remaining stake, leading to it being placed under Fortescue Future Industries and rebranded as WAE Technologies.
The company currently supplies batteries for the new Gen3 Formula E car and has two locations, one on the Williams F1 factory site in Oxfordshire and another in Germany.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to begin this new chapter with WAE Technologies,” expressed Williams.
“Utilizing technology developed from racing to transform various industries worldwide, Craig and his team have accomplished something truly remarkable in a relatively brief period,” commented Williams.
Claire Williams began her career in F1 at the Williams team, where she took on a junior press officer role after being made redundant from a press office job at Silverstone.
Williams rose through the ranks to become head of communications and was subsequently appointed deputy team principal in 2013. She took over the team during a difficult period and helped to keep it afloat despite challenging financial conditions.
While the team achieved some promising results, such as finishing third in the constructors’ championship in 2014 and 2015, it struggled to build on that success.
Williams stepped down from her role in 2021 when the team was put up for sale due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The team was subsequently acquired by Dorilton Capital.
In her new role as brand ambassador for WAE Technologies, Williams praised the company’s achievements in using race-bred technology to revolutionize industries across the world.
