Alonso Confident Lance Stroll

Fernando Alonso of the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team has expressed his belief in his new teammate Lance Stroll, stating that the young driver has the potential to become a world champion in the future. As an experienced Formula 1 driver with two championships under his belt, Alonso is eager to assist the team in their pursuit of becoming title contenders in the upcoming F1 2023 season.

Alonso has known Stroll for over a decade, having met him during his time at Ferrari. He also has a long-standing friendship with Lawrence Stroll, the Canadian’s father and owner of the Aston Martin team. Alonso considers Stroll to be a highly skilled driver, with particular strengths in wet conditions. Stroll’s pole position at the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix and other impressive performances in challenging conditions have proven his abilities as a driver.

“The team has a driver who is super young, super talented, and has the possibility to be World Champion,” Alonso said of Stroll. “To see him achieve that and have played a part in that, whether that’s behind the wheel or not, will be special for me.”

Alonso is drawn to the team’s unwavering ambition to become a top team and their significant investment over the past few seasons, including a new factory and the addition of talented staff. As a legendary name in the motorsport and automotive industry, Aston Martin offers Alonso a unique opportunity to become a part of its iconic brand and write the next chapter in its history.

With F1 2023 just around the corner, the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team is gearing up for a highly competitive season, with Alonso and Stroll leading the charge.

Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso: Championship Hopes Deferred, But Not Forgotten

Aston Martin may not be ready to compete for race wins and championships this year, according to Fernando Alonso, but he believes that it’s only a matter of time before he can chase his third title. Alonso, who joined Aston Martin from Alpine over the winter, signed a multi-year deal to partner Lance Stroll. The team finished seventh in the constructors’ championship last season, but has received significant levels of investment. Alonso admits that it will take more than a year to start fighting the likes of Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes.

Alonso says that there is a possibility of winning a third championship, but not this year. He admits that he cannot say that they will be fighting for victories this year, but he wants to have a good car to start with and to develop it throughout the season. He hopes to get closer in the second half of the year and not miss any opportunities that may arise.

Alonso feels he’s being unfairly penalized for moving teams, given the limited amount of pre-season testing this season. He has to share three days with his teammate Lance Stroll. Alonso believes that it’s unfair that they only have one and a half days of testing in Bahrain this year. He’s aware that he will not be 100% in Bahrain, Jeddah, and maybe not in Australia.

Alonso believes that he has more possibilities to fight for wins and podiums next year if they have a good baseline this year. He emphasizes that what they have this year will not be their normal position. He’s certain that Aston Martin will deliver titles, but hints that he only has a short time to achieve it himself at the age of 41.
