Aston Martin debuts AMR23

The AMR23, Aston Martin’s car for the 2023 Formula 1 season, has made its first appearance on the track in advance of the upcoming racing season.

Earlier this week, the challenger was launched from Aston Martin’s Silverstone facility, and on Wednesday, the car made its first run on the nearby circuit.

Teams are allowed to take their cars onto the track twice a year, aside from official testing and race weekends.

During these occasions, teams are required to use non-race Pirelli-spec tires and are limited to running for 100km.

After Sebastian Vettel’s retirement last year, Aston Martin has a revamped driver line-up for the 2023 season.

Fernando Alonso has taken over for the four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel, and will now be partnering with Lance Stroll on the Aston Martin team for the upcoming season.

Lance Stroll, who originally joined the team under the name Racing Point in 2019, is now entering his fifth season with the squad.

In the 2022 season, Aston Martin finished seventh in the Constructors’ Championship, with the same number of points as Alfa Romeo. However, Alfa Romeo was ranked sixth in the standings due to their better race finishes during the year.

Next week, the AMR23 car will be returning to the track for pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit.

As Mercedes launched its new car for the 2023 season, Aston Martin took to the Silverstone circuit to complete its first laps. The British team is aiming for a stronger performance in the upcoming season after struggling in 2022. During last year’s shakedown, it became apparent that Aston Martin had missed the mark with their concept.
