Ferrari’s latest Formula 1 car, the SF-23 for 2023, has been unveiled online, providing the public with the first glimpse of the iconic brand’s latest racing machine from the Fiorano test track.
In addition to the online reveal, the car was also introduced to a group of enthusiastic tifosi, with Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, team principal Frederic Vasseur, and ambassador Marc Gene among the individuals present at the launch.
Despite not winning either world championship, Ferrari had a strong showing in the 2022 season.
Charles Leclerc finished the 2022 season with a career-best second place in the championship behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, and Carlos Sainz achieved his first-ever Grand Prix victory at Silverstone.
Since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of last season, there have been modifications made behind the scenes.
After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Mattia Binotto stepped down as team principal, and Frederic Vasseur from Alfa Romeo Sauber took over the position.
Leclerc and Sainz have already taken part in this year’s customary ‘wake up’ test at Fiorano.
At the ‘wake up’ test in Fiorano, the pair drove a 2021-spec SF21 for several days, with Sainz completing a total of 119 laps.
Ferrari’s reserve drivers, Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Shwartzman, were also present at the test, and Leclerc took over driving duties on the second day of the event.
The Ferrari SF-23 will have its debut outing during pre-season testing, which will begin in Bahrain on the following Thursday.
During the testing in Bahrain, each team has just three days of running, shared between their two race drivers, in preparation for the season’s opening race in Sakhir on March 25th.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be driving for the Scuderia this year after helping the team secure second place in the constructors’ championship in the previous season.
Despite facing disappointment in the lead-up to the switch to new aerodynamic regulations, Ferrari responded well and achieved a successful outcome.
Leclerc mounted a championship bid last year but was eventually overtaken by Max Verstappen due to car unreliability, a weakness that new team boss Fred Vasseur claims has been addressed. Vasseur has taken over from Mattia Binotto, who resigned after the team failed to secure any championships last year.

Ferrari faces a tough task in chasing down Red Bull, who dominated last season, and a resurgent Mercedes team. The Bahrain Grand Prix on March 2-5 will start the 2023 season, preceded by three days of testing at the Sakhir venue starting next Thursday.
