Williams unveils its 2023 Formula One car, the FW45, with a shakedown run at Silverstone, joining the ranks of teams revealing their vehicles for the upcoming season.

Williams unveils its 2023 Formula One car, the FW45, with McLaren and Aston Martin set to showcase their vehicles later on.

Last Monday, Williams unveiled its 2023 livery on a display car during a ceremony at its Grove factory, and now the team has unveiled its new car this Monday.

Today, both of Williams’ 2023 race drivers, Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant, are scheduled to test drive the new car.

Vowles replaces Jost Capito whose shock departure from Williams – along with technical director FX Demaison – marked a major off-season shift for the team.

James Vowles, the new team principal for Williams and a former Mercedes employee, is not present at Silverstone as he is still on gardening leave until February 20th.

He replaces Jost Capito, who, along with technical director FX Demaison, made a surprising exit from Williams, marking a significant change for the team during the off-season.

Its sole upgrade package of the year came at Silverstone in July and this attempted to address some of the fundamental problems with the car – although it’s had to wait until 2023 to make the major layout changes it wanted to.

In the past five seasons, Williams finished last in the constructors’ championship four times, with its car design struggling on circuits that require a combination of downforce and handling in a range of corners.

In July of last year, the team made its only upgrade of the season at Silverstone, attempting to address some of the key issues with the car. However, it had to wait until 2023 to make significant changes to the car’s design.
