The new Aston Martin F1 2023

The Aston Martin AMR23 Formula 1 car was unveiled at the team’s 2023 launch event at Silverstone.
This is the third car produced under the current iteration of the iconic Aston Martin brand in Formula 1 racing, operated by the team which originally started as Jordan in the early 1990s.
In the previous year, Aston Martin experienced a slow start to the season but gradually regained its strength and became a strong competitor in the midfield. Despite their efforts, they ultimately lost the sixth place in the constructor’s standings to Alfa Romeo based on tiebreaker rules.
This time around, Aston Martin has stated that their goal is to produce a car that will be competitive from the start.
Aston Martin has recruited two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso as their star driver, taking the place of the retired four-time champion Sebastian Vettel. He will be joining Lance Stroll on the team, while Stoffel Vandoorne, Alonso’s former McLaren Formula 1 teammate, and reigning Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich are the reserves for 2023.
During the launch event, the team’s executive chairman Lawrence Stroll (also the father of Lance Stroll) stated, “Formula 1, like any other industry, is a process. This will be only our third year in this process.”
“Everyone knows that, whether it’s Formula 1 or any other business, it takes longer than three years to achieve success. However, our plan this year is to make progress, followed by another step forward next year, and another the year after, until we’re winning and competing for world championships,” added Stroll.
The newly introduced car from Aston Martin is a legitimate 2023 design and will make its first appearance on Wednesday at Silverstone during one of the two 100 km “filming days” assigned to each team.
New driver Alonso quipped, “I think the fans will appreciate that we’ve launched the actual car, not just a show car with different stickers. They are sometimes disappointed to see that.”
“This team is more transparent and equal in everything,” added Alonso.
The AMR23 is the first car that has been overseen from its creation to completion by Dan Fallows, the technical director of the team who was recruited from Red Bull by Aston Martin.
The 2023 season will also see Aston Martin moving into their new factory in Silverstone. However, the wind tunnel that will be part of the investment is only scheduled to become operational the year after.
