F1 - Mercedes and Russell-Hamilton test at Paul Ricard

Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton were back behind the wheel of F1 cars this week, as they clocked up miles at the Paul Ricard circuit in France for a Pirelli tire test.

Today, after George Russell’s day of tire testing, Lewis Hamilton has taken the wheel of the W13 for another day of on-track activity at Paul Ricard!

Yesterday, Mercedes started the 2023 on-track activities at Paul Ricard, as George Russell tested Pirelli’s 2023 tire compounds.

Lewis Hamilton has taken control of the W13 for another day of testing, marking his first on-track work for Mercedes in 2023.

Russell and Hamilton are preparing for their second year as teammates, as the Silver Arrows aim to recover from a difficult 2022 season that marked the end of their dominant championship streak.

On Wednesday, Mercedes posted photos on social media of Russell driving at the former French Grand Prix circuit in the W13 car from last year, along with a caption saying they “missed this.”

The team later posted photos of Hamilton doing the same on Thursday – the seven-time world champion was also seen interacting with mechanics in the garage.

Both drivers will have additional time in the W13 at the Jerez circuit in Spain next week, with two days of testing scheduled for February 7-8.

Mercedes will unveil their 2023 car, the W14, at Silverstone on February 15th, before all F1 teams travel to Bahrain for pre-season testing from February 23rd to 25th.

After Mercedes concludes their tire test, AlphaTauri will take over on February 3rd and 4th. The German team will also test at Jerez on February 3rd and 4th.
