Alfa Romeo F1 appoints new team boss for 2023

Alfa Romeo F1 Team announced the appointment of a ‘Team Representative’ instead of a Team Principal.

Alfa Romeo has announced that Alessandro Alunni Bravi will be taking on the role of Team Representative and will be the public face of the team for the 2023 season.

The Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team, which is run by Sauber, has undergone a leadership change for the upcoming season, resulting in the elimination of the traditional team principal role and the appointment of a ‘team representative’ in its place.

This is the first major announcement regarding a role at the team since Andreas Seidl, who previously worked at McLaren, was appointed as the CEO of Sauber.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, who has been a part of the Sauber Group since 2017, brings a wealth of experience to the role, including management experience in lower-tier motorsport categories.

The team has stated that Alunni Bravi will be the team’s official representative at both race weekends and off-track events.

This means that Alunni Bravi will likely take on some of the responsibilities typically handled by team principals, particularly in relation to media appearances and press events.

Seidl said that the appointment of Alunni Bravi as Team Representative will allow him to focus on expanding the Sauber Group, and on the opportunities that the team will be facing in the future, including the upcoming partnership with Audi.

Sauber Group CEO Seidl stated, “I am thrilled to announce that Alessandro Alunni Bravi will be taking on the role of Team Representative, in addition to his current position as Managing Director of the Group.”

“Alessandro’s extensive background in motorsport has given him the necessary skills to excel in this role, and his deep understanding of the team, having been a part of it for over five years, will provide stability and continuity as we move forward,” said Seidl.

“With Alessandro representing the team during the Formula One season, I will be able to focus on expanding the Group and preparing for the future challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” said Seidl.

“I am grateful to Alessandro for his confidence in our vision, and I am excited to welcome him to this new role. I am certain that this is another valuable addition to an already strong team, from the drivers to the management team, to every single employee. Together, we will be able to build on last year’s success and create a bright future for Sauber,” said Seidl.
