A “wake up test” run for Sainz in a Ferrari F1 at Fiorano

The yearly test session prepares team members, drivers, and engineers for the upcoming season at the team’s own test track.
Ferrari has begun their annual “wake up test” to prepare for the new season at Fiorano, with Carlos Sainz behind the wheel of the SF21.
Ferrari’s test session has been a recurrent activity in recent years, which is beneficial for drivers, mechanics and engineers to get familiarized with the track again and be ready for the new season.
On Tuesday morning, Antonio Giovinazzi, a driver for Ferrari’s Hypercar team, completed 35 laps in challenging wet and cold conditions. Later, Robert Shwartzman, a development and reserve driver for the team, continued testing by completing 77 laps for the day.
The new, yet-to-be-named Ferrari for this year will be revealed on February 14 and will participate in the three-day pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 23-25 alongside other teams. The first race of the season will also take place in Bahrain on March 5.
On Tuesday, the AlphaTauri team also conducted testing at the nearby Imola circuit, with Yuki Tsunoda behind the wheel of the AT02 car.
