Victor Martins will race for ART in Formula 2

The 2023 Formula 2 grid will have one remaining open seat, as ART Grand Prix promotes Formula 3 champion, Martins, to fill it. Victor Martins, the FIA Formula 3 champion, has been confirmed to join ART Grand Prix for his first season in Formula 2. He will be racing alongside Theo Pourchaire for the team.
Victor Martins has been confirmed to join ART Grand Prix for his first season in Formula 2. Martins had previously won the FIA Formula 3 championship with the team last year, in a dramatic final round at Monza where he beat Zane Maloney to the title by only five points.
Victor Martins, 21, will be staying with ART Grand Prix team for his first season in FIA Formula 2 after two seasons in FIA Formula 3. He will be joining Theo Pourchaire for the second-tier single-seater championship. Martins has already prepared himself for this step up by completing three days of testing in an F2 car with ART team at the post-season test in Abu Dhabi last year, where he covered almost 1,200km over the test.
Victor Martins has stated that his goal for his first season in Formula 2 is to fight for the championship title. He will be looking to make the most of his experience in the lower category and the preparation he has done with ART Grand Prix team to achieve this goal.
Victor Martins stated that he is only considering to take the next step with ART Grand Prix, the team he had a successful year with , He said “After a successful year with ART Grand Prix, I was not considering taking the next step with any other team.”
Victor Martins expressed his excitement about joining Formula 2 championship with ART Grand Prix, a professional and experienced team. He stated that the tests with the team have given him confidence about his adaptation and the ability to overcome any doubts he had. He said “I can’t wait to discover the Formula 2 championship, which is tough and competitive, with such a professional and experienced team. The tests made it possible to remove what little doubts I might have had about my adaptation because I felt comfortable and confident. My objective will therefore be to do everything possible to win the title in my first year.”
Sebastien Philippe, ART team manager, believes that Victor Martins has the ability to quickly adapt to the new Formula 2 series and be competitive from the start of the championship. He has faith in Martins’ skills and performance to make a successful transition from Formula 3 to Formula 2.

He believes that Martins’ determination, enthusiasm and winning attitude will be a great asset in the highly competitive Formula 2 championship. He said “The Abu Dhabi tests confirmed his ability to adapt quickly and well to his new single-seater. His determination, his enthusiasm and his conquering spirit will be weapons in a championship where competition is fierce.”
With Martins’ confirmation, only one seat remains open for the Formula 2 championship this year, that of the second MP Motorsport driver, who will be racing alongside Red Bull junior Dennis Hauger. Jehan Daruvala, a former Red Bull junior driver, tested for the team at Yas Marina at the end of last season.
