McLaren has confirmed that Ricciardo is replaced by Norris on day two of pre-season testing in Bahrain, with the Australian still “suffering”.
Lando Norris completed a full day of testing on Thursday after replacing his team-mate and will be driving the McLaren again on Friday morning.
McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo won’t be testing on Friday as he continues to feel unwell, his team have confirmed.
The Australian driver was forced to miss the opening day of testing, with team-mate Lando Norris driving the entire day.
McLaren said on Friday morning that although feeling better, Ricciardo was still unwell and wouldn’t be in the car.
“Daniel Ricciardo began feeling unwell yesterday morning, and while signs of improvement, the team will continue to assess him before he resumes duties.

“Daniel has had several precautionary COVID-19 tests during this time, which have been negative throughout.”
On the first day of testing, Norris completed just 50 laps. Indeed, McLaren lost a lot of time in the garage. The MCL36 suffered from problems with the cooling of its brakes. Lando Norris finished the first day of Bahrain winter testing with the sixth fastest time.
That means Norris will drive again, with Ricciardo hopeful of getting behind the wheel on the final day of testing on Saturday, ahead of next weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
