Petition to crown Lewis Hamilton 2021 F1 world champion

Lewis Hamilton looked set to win the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and take the championship before an unfortunate set of circumstances went against him.
After the controversial decisions made by the FIA at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, fans started several petitions to overturn the results. One is nearing 40,000 signatures.
More than two weeks after FIA race director Michael Masi chose not to follow the rules in the final laps of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, many fans are still in an uproar over the results of the race.
Masi’s decisions allowed Max Verstappen to easily overtake Lewis Hamilton, who was on much older tyres, to claim the victory and the 2021 championship.
After the race several fans aired their displeasure with what had happened by setting up petitions aiming to overturn the results. One of those petitions is nearing 40,000 signatures, which is not a small number.

This is how the creator of the petition explained his goals:
“I believe that justice was not served on Sunday December 12, 2021 when the FIA stewards denied Lewis Hamilton of his win of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix,” he wrote.
“With less than 1 lap remaining, some lapped cars were allowed to pass the safety car, which does not comply with the rules of the F1 sport.
“This gave rival opponent Max Verstappen the opportunity to overtake Lewis Hamilton and win the Grand Prix. If you are an advocate of justice, honesty and fairness, please sign this petition.
“Leaving this decision as it stands will send a very wrong message to youngsters and future racers,” he concluded.
It is not very likely that the petition can influence anything, or even be acknowledged by the FIA and Formula 1, but it’s nice to know that a lot of people care about the injustice that happened in Abu Dhabi.
