Sir Lewis Hamilton is made a Knight Bachelor by the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle.
Just four days after the disappointment of losing out to Max Verstappen in the 2021 world drivers’ championship, Lewis Hamilton has received his knighthood.
The 36-year-old was officially knighted in a ceremony performed by Prince Charles at Windsor Castle, having been named in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours last year.
Lewis Hamilton has officially received his knighthood during a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.
Hamilton was awarded a knighthood during the New Year’s Honours at the end of 2020 for services to motorsport but the official ceremony took place on Wednesday.
The investiture was undertaken by Prince Charles, with Hamilton’s mother Carmen also present.
It marked Hamilton’s first appearance at an event since Sunday’s title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, in which he relinquished his crown to Max Verstappen.

Hamilton, who has not spoken since the immediate post-race TV interview, is scheduled to attend the FIA Gala in Paris on Thursday to collect the runner-up trophy.
Mercedes has yet to communicate whether or not it is pressing on with an appeal against the result of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Its initial protest, regarding the application of Article 48.12 of the Sporting Regulations, was rejected by stewards but it immediately lodged a notice of intent to appeal.
It has until Thursday evening to notify its next step.
Mercedes has refrained from communication since lodging that notice, with no updates on its social media channels, and no coverage of its participation in post-race testing.
