VETTEL COLLECTS FIVE PENALTY POINTS

Sebastian Vettel’s Bahrain Grand Prix weekend was marred by multiple penalties, culminating in a collision with Esteban Ocon that saw him finish in 15th place while Ocon finished 13th.

Sebastian Vettel received a penalty for crashing into the back of Esteban Ocon’s Alpine towards the end of the race, which caused him to be placed in the 15th position. Esteban Ocon managed to finish in the 13th position despite the incident.

At the Bahrain Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel’s disappointing debut weekend with Aston Martin came to an end, during which he collected a total of five penalty points, adding to his misery as a four-time World Champion.

On Sunday afternoon, after a discussion with the stewards regarding his violation of a double yellow flag during Q1, Sebastian Vettel was handed a three-point penalty and a five-place grid drop.

As it was found that Sebastian Vettel did not comply with the regulations, he received the appropriate penalty.

Starting from the back of the grid, Sebastian Vettel had a lengthy first stint but later collided with Esteban Ocon of Alpine while braking for Turn 1.

Sebastian Vettel caused Esteban Ocon to spin out with his actions and was found responsible for the incident. The stewards concluded that Vettel was entirely at fault and penalized him with a 10-second time penalty along with two penalty points.

As a result of the penalty he received during the weekend, Sebastian Vettel’s total penalty points over the past 12 months increased to five. The penalty he received also led to him finishing in the 15th position at the end of the race, with Mick Schumacher, a newcomer to Haas, being the only driver he finished ahead of. Additionally, four other drivers did not finish the race.

Sebastian Vettel explained to Sky Sports F1 that he was attempting to move to the left, but Esteban Ocon was also moving in that direction, leading to him locking his fronts and crashing into Ocon.

Vettel was held responsible for the collision and received two additional penalty points, in addition to the three he had already received earlier in the day.

The incident occurred during Vettel’s debut for Aston Martin, and he finished the race in 15th place. Despite trying a one-stop strategy, Vettel struggled with his tyres towards the end of the race and believed that scoring points was not feasible.
