MERCEDES – LAUNCH DATE 2 MARCH TO REVEAL ITS 2021 F1 CAR

2021 F1 Car – Mercedes has become the third Formula 1 team to specify the date of presentation of its new single-seater for the coming season.
Mercedes has revealed that its 2021 Formula 1 car, the W12, will be unveiled during a digital launch on March 2.
Mercedes has not been beaten to a Formula 1 title since 2014, when new turbo hybrid regulations were introduced, and is aiming for an unprecedented eighth successive crown this year.
World Champion Lewis Hamilton has yet to sign a new deal, but is expected to stay, while Valtteri Bottas has already been confirmed for 2021.
Under Formula 1 regulations teams have carried over large parts of their 2020 cars but tweaks to the rules have led to changes during the off-season.
Mercedes technical chief James Allison recently revealed that recouping lost downforce, owing to alterations to the floor and bargeboards, has been a key target through the winter.
Mercedes has also undergone a restructure during the off-season after it was confirmed that INEOS has become a one-third stakeholder in the team.
Parent company Daimler AG reduced its previous 60 per cent shareholding to one-third while Toto Wolff, who renewed his commitment for another three years, raised his from 30 per cent in order for all parties to be equal shareholders.
“We are excited to announce that our 2021 Formula One car will be officially unveiled on Tuesday 2 March – in exactly one months’ time – in a digital launch event,” read Mercedes’ press release.
“Our 2021 contender will be named Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E Performance. The designation ‘E Performance’ is the new technology label used in product names and badging on all forthcoming Mercedes-AMG hybrid cars, with the W12 being our first Formula One car to feature ‘E Performance’ in its name.”
On the same day Mercedes will also provide “a wide range of assets” including: initial imagery, technical information, profiles on our team’s key figures and Q&As with team boss Toto Wolff, new Mercedes HPP boss Hywel Thomas and technical director James Allison.
Mercedes is the third team to confirm its launch plans for the 2021 season.
McLaren will unveil its MCL35M at its Woking base on February 15 while Alfa Romeo will travel to Warsaw for the launch of its C41 on February 22.
