Norris commented that Hamilton

Lando Norris has recently reflected on his past comments made towards Lewis Hamilton’s achievements in Formula One, where he suggested that Hamilton’s success was primarily due to his car’s superiority.

Lando Norris displayed his aggressive streak for the first time during the Portugal race, where he commented that Lewis Hamilton’s success was primarily due to his superior car, shortly after the event. However, he has since issued a public apology for his remarks.

Lando Norris has acknowledged that it was difficult for him to handle the negative reaction he faced following his insensitive comments about Lewis Hamilton’s accomplishments last year. He described the situation as “tricky.”

Following Lewis Hamilton’s historic record-breaking win at the Portuguese Grand Prix, Lando Norris made some comments that appeared to downplay the significance of Hamilton’s achievement.

When questioned by reporters, Lando Norris suggested that Lewis Hamilton’s record-breaking victory was primarily due to him driving a car that was capable of winning every race and having to beat only a couple of other drivers. As a result of his comments, the young British driver received substantial criticism, and he is now reflecting on the situation.

In an interview with Autosport, Norris admitted that the backlash he received for his comments was challenging to deal with. He expressed a great deal of respect for Lewis Hamilton and his achievements, acknowledging that he had only achieved one podium himself and therefore had no grounds to criticize Hamilton’s success. Norris also mentioned that while he tries to be a nice person, he believes in being honest and speaking the truth, even if it’s not always popular.

Norris clarified that his comments are never intended to undermine or disrespect other drivers’ accomplishments. He acknowledged that sometimes he may say things that are taken out of context or that he regrets saying because he didn’t think through them carefully enough. However, he reiterated that his intention is never to take anything away from the achievements of his fellow drivers.

Norris acknowledged that he is only human and that everyone makes mistakes from time to time. He emphasized that he never intends to say anything harmful or negative towards anyone, and that any controversial remarks he makes are simply the result of an emotional outburst, something that every driver experiences. Norris accepted that he has made mistakes in the past and will likely make them again in the future, but he will always strive to learn from them and be a better person.

When asked whether he thought a more senior driver, like Kimi Raikkonen, would have received a better response from the public if they had made similar comments, Norris responded that he believed they would have been more positively received. He acknowledged that this is just how people perceive drivers based on their personalities and public image, and that there is little one can do to change it.

Norris acknowledged that when he first entered the sport, he was perhaps not as serious as he should have been and had a reputation for being the “jokey guy.” However, he feels that he has improved in that regard. He also mentioned that people may not have seen the more negative or angry side of him before, and when he does show that side, it is sometimes misunderstood as disrespecting others, which is not his intention.

Norris also pointed out that some drivers frequently make similar comments without receiving as much backlash simply because they have a history of doing so. He believes that his reputation as a “nice guy” may have contributed to the strong reaction to his comments, as they were seen as a contrast to his usual persona.

Norris has since apologized to Lewis Hamilton for his comments last year, recognizing that they were insensitive and disrespectful towards Hamilton’s achievements. He has also expressed a great deal of respect for Hamilton and acknowledged the immense effort required to achieve success in Formula One.
