ROY NISSANY CONFIRMED FOR 2021 PRE-SEASON TESTING

Roy Nissany 2021 – This year’s pre-season testing schedule has been cutback to three days for cost-saving reasons, with the test taking place on 12-14 March in Bahrain, two weeks before the season-opening race in Sakhir.
The 26-year-old Isreali driver finished 19th in last year’s FIA Formula 2 standings, scoring five points across the season and managing a best result of eighth place in the Spa-Francorchamps sprint race.
Roy Nissany will continue as a Formula 1 test driver for Williams in 2021, the Grove-based squad has confirmed, and is set to take part in three Friday practice sessions at grands prix this year.
Nissany joined Williams ahead of the 2020 campaign, taking part in three free practice sessions throughout last year at Barcelona, Monza and Bahrain before joining the team once more at the post-season test in Abu Dhabi.
His duties with Williams ran alongside a full-time seat in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Trident, with his season highlight being a reverse grid pole he secured for the Sprint Race at Spa-Francorchamps.
Williams has confirmed that as part of his role this year, Nissany will drive a day of pre-season testing with the team, joining full-time drivers George Russell and Nicholas Latifi.
“I am truly honoured to continue being part of Williams,” Nissany said.
“Since we started, we have made huge progress across many areas – on top of the great FP1s, we had a lot of productive work behind the scenes.
“While dedicating as much as I can to the team, I enhanced my skills and my capabilities as a driver. I am very keen to continue this form in 2021.”
Williams Team Principal Simon Roberts hailed the continuing partnership, asserting the team is “very happy” with the Israeli driver’s contributions in 2020.
“I am pleased that Roy will continue as the team’s official test driver into 2021, building on the good work we started last year,” Roberts said.
“As a team, we were very happy with the contributions Roy made both through his work on-track and in the simulator at Grove, which all aided the lap time gains we were able to make with the FW43.
“We also enjoyed seeing Roy grow as a driver, and we have no doubt that he will continue to go from strength-to-strength this year.”
